This Groundhog Candlestick was designed by Ernest Thompson Seton in 1903 for the Rowfant Club of Cleveland, Ohio.

The candlestick was designed by Seton and sculpted by James Lippitt Clark based on Seton’s design. 100 numbered copies were cast in patinated bronze by Tiffany Studios in New York. The candlestick includes Seton’s signature and characteristic pawprint.

The candlestick is 8 ¾” high x 4 ¼” wide x 5 ⅛” deep. 100 numbered candlesticks were produced.

Founded in 1892, The Rowfant Club is a bibliophilic society “dedicated to the love of books in all their capacities to please the mind of man.”

The Rowfant Club has a large collection of candlesticks, which generally feature the symbols of the cluib – candle, a groundhog and a book. The collection inclkudes both candlesticks presented by club members and those commissioned by the club.
